SDA Event Entry Guide

Entry to all SDA Races are done via the website, www.sda-races.com.

To enter via the website, you must first create a rider file, once you have created a rider file, then you never need to create another one again, this same file will be used year after year.

SDA Races are released 2 at a time...
This is done for a couple of reasons, when races were released all at once by the time we get to the later races, the entry has changed significantly with many cancellations and new entries to replace them. It all got a bit untidy, so releasing 2 at a time keeps it fresh. Secondly, with the cost of races these days, there was an issue with affordability in entering a complete Series which gave the upper hand to those who could afford to, this helps spread the cost.

Entry is a 2 stage process...
1, Entry tickets are released
2, Race entry is released 24 hours later to successful ticket holders.

To ease the considerable load on the Server, we have introduced a ticketing system, the races goes live at the indicated date and time shown on the Season Summary page. When the time is reached the 2 races will be shown on the page with a check box beside them (you may need to press F5 to refresh the page at 8.00pm), simply select the race(s) you want to enter, fill in your login details and you will be issued with a ticket number (if successful). Actual race entry is delayed by 24 hours, this is to stagger the much more database intensive race entry process, so if a ticket launch is at 8.00pm on the 1st, entry to the race you have a ticket for is not available till the 2nd at 8.00pm. You then have 7 days to use your ticket number to enter the race(s), login to your file and click the 'Enter Races' link in the blue box.

More detailed analysis of how to enter...
Go to the Login Page, when 8.00pm comes the 2 races will show (you may need to press F5 to refresh the page), simply click the checkboxes of the race(s) you want to enter, add your login details into the login boxes shown and click the request tickets button. If successful, the next page will show you your ticket, if you are not shown your ticket and the page says you have been unsuccessful, then repeat the process. If the race fills then requests will obviously not be successful. The site will automatically end your session to allow other users in. If you have a ticket, then panic over, you have 7 days from 8.00pm the following day to use your ticket to enter the race(s). To enter with a ticket, login to your file and click the 'Enter Races' link in the blue box, select the radio button to enter the race and click update races, then proceed through to payment. Please take note of the blue box information, it may ask you create a competitor category the Season, the system will help you though this process, this should be done first.

All races must be pre-paid, so you will be taken through to the WorldPay payment area, where payment will be taken by card. However, if you have enough money in your SDA account to pay for the race(s), then you will not be taken through to the WorldPay payment area, your SDA account will simply be debited with the amount. If you feel there is some discrepancy with the amount being charged, then our advice is pay what is due so that entry is completed. We can discuss the situation at a later date and correct any problems there may be.

One note of caution, when you are at the race entry page which features the radio buttons to Enter or Not Enter races, please leave previous selections alone unless you specifically want to alter them. A common mistake is to select the Do not Enter selection of a race you have already entered, in fear of entering that race twice, you cannot enter a race twice, the system automatically checks if you are already entered, if you are, it doesn't update that entry. However when you click Do not Enter Races selection this REMOVES you from the race, which if full or has waiting reserves means you won't get back in!!

Reserve tickets...
If you get a Reserve Ticket, then you do not need to do anything, Reserves are handled by Admin as Reserves are only promoted when a space becomes available. You cannot pay as technically you are not in a race, however if you are promoted the system will advise you by email, you should then login and pay the amount due via the 'Statement' link on the left hand side under 'Member's Home'.

Marshal/Rider Guaranteed Entry Scheme

The SDA run a Marshal/Rider Guaranteed Entry scheme, where if a Rider provides a marshal for the entire weekend then the rider will not only get free entry, but they will have guaranteed entry as well. This is up to the maximum marshal allocation which is variable for each race, please note that the marshal will not be paid, as the rider has received free entry. The scheme also opens 7 days before the main race entries open.

The process to sign up as a Marshal is as follows, go to the login page and either login if you have previously applied to be a marshal or click the ‘Click here to sign up’ button. If you are signing up please fill out your details and importantly click the ‘Sign up as Marshal’ button.

To Marshal for a Rider at a race, the Marshal must login and click the ‘Marshall Applications’ link under the ‘Members Home’ title on the left hand menu bar. At the next page, fill in the email address of the rider you wish to Marshal for and select the rider from the selection, then select the race(s) the rider wishes to enter. All Marshal applications are pending until approved by an administrator, once the application is approved, then the entry is guaranteed and you will be sent an email adivising that your application has been approved (or rejected). When you receive the approved email, the rider must login and click the Enter Races link and use the ‘Proceed Button…’ to go and pay for the race(s), at the event you will be reimbursed the race cost if you complete the weekend’s marshalling.

The number 1 reason for marshal applications being rejected is that the rider logs in and then proceeds to marshal for him/herself. Make sure the MARSHAL logs in and selects the rider they wish to marshal, as it explains quite clearly above!

Please note, there is only 1 Marshal to 1 Rider, you cannot marshal for multiple riders. Also any abuse of this system will result in a Season’s ban.

The SDA races are not UCI registered so do not carry UCI points.
